SCEFC Set List: April 1, 2012

On Sunday I will be serving as the worship leader at State College E-Free Church. It is Palm Sunday, a tribute to Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. I wonder how Jesus felt when the crowd cheered and celebrated that day in Jerusalem. The people felt a need to be saved and restored. They thought Jesus was the one. This made them happy. Despite their joy Jesus knew that they were missing the point. He about to provide them with eternal salvation, not just political standing.

I’ve been thinking about being needy, feeling want. One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 86. It begins with: “Hear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.” When I celebrate God, when I declare His praise, I want it to be grounded on the right reason. Not because I’m comfortable or  powerful, but because I have been redeemed. It was with this in mind that I developed this set list:

Prelude: (G) Let Your Mercy Rain – Chris Tomlin | Jesse Reeves | Ed Cash

(A) Our God – Chris Tomlin | Jesse Reeves | Jonas Myrin | Matt Redman

(D) Desert Song – Brooke Fraser

(E) How Deep the Father’s Love for Us – Stuart Townend

Closing: (G) Jesus Messiah

SCEFC Set List: March 18, 2012

Tomorrow I’ll be serving as the worship leader at State College E-Free Church. I’ve been thinking about peace recently. More specifically, what it means to have the peace of Christ guard my heart and mind. That’s where this list of songs came from.

Prelude: (G) God is Great – Marty Sampson

I’ve been thinking about what it means to live for the glory of God’s name. The chorus of this song has been running through my head a lot. I’ve never used this song at State College E-Free before.

I’m planning to read Psalm 23 before the main set of songs begins.

(E) Be Still My Soul – Katharina von Schlegel

I play this song frequently. I’m planning to use a short chorus I added to the end of this song, which is a repeat of the sentence “Be still my soul.” This song has some excellent lines that I find encouraging.

(A) It is Well with My Soul – Horatio G. Spafford | Philip Paul Bliss

(G) Your Grace is Enough – Matthew Maher

(G) Holy is the Lord  – Chris Tomlin | Louie Giglio

Closing Song: (A) Marvelous Light – Charlie Hall

I’m looking forward to the music practice tonight and the service tomorrow.

Edited 2/3/2012 — I now have more information regarding the order of service and themes.

This coming Sunday I’ll be serving as the worship leader at State College E-Free Church. I’m not sure what the message will be about, but the sign in front of the church reads: “FEB U WEARY?” I put together a list of songs that I’ve been playing and singing recently.

Prelude: (E) All the Earth Will Sing Your Praises – Paul Baloche

I’ve been meaning to use this song at E-Free for five years. This week it will finally happen.

(A) Our God – Chris Tomlin | Jesse Reeves | Jonas Myrin | Matt Redman

(E) 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord) – Jonas Myrin | Matt Redman

(G) Let Your Mercy Rain – Chris Tomlin | Jesse Reeves | Ed Cash

Response Song: (D) In Christ Alone – Stuart Townend | Keith Getty

Potential Song to be used if there is little response during the sharing time: (A) From the Inside Out – Joel Houston

Closing: (D) Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken – Henry Lyte | Bill Moore

SCEFC Set List: January 8, 2012

This coming Sunday I’ll be serving as the worship leader at State College E-Free Church. The sermon will be derived from Matthew 11:28-30, the passage in which Jesus says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (NIV). The central theme in the sermon is what it means to come to Jesus and what hinders us from doing that.

Prelude: (D) In Christ Alone – Keith Getty | Stuart Townend

(E) All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name – Edward Perronet | John Rippon

(C) Hungry – Kathryn Scott

(C) Wonderful, Merciful Savior – Dawn Rodgers | Eric Wyse

Communion Song: (A) Jesus Paid It All – Elvina Hall | Alex Nafong

Closing Song: (G) Enough – Chris Tomlin
