The Crayola Experience

Today I joined my brother, sister-in-law, nephews, and niece on a trip to the Crayola Experience facility at the site where Crayola crayons are manufactured in Easton, PA. Years ago I toured the factory. Today factory tours no longer are given, but elaborate activity areas are in place, and a video and demonstration of crayon production is regularly presented.

Posing with the largest crayon in the world.

One very cool exhibit that didn’t seem to fit into the theme of the place, but was very cool, was a room-sized model of a canal system. Little boats could be guided through the canal. A lock system helped navigate some of the grades. A belt conveyor system also was used in some parts. It looks like an awesome project to build at home. Who wouldn’t want a functioning lock system in their basement?

Good times.

I just might purchase a box of crayons soon. I haven’t used crayons in a long time. . .
