I watched about twenty minutes of Rose Parade coverage on the internet today. I saw the Canines of Courage float sponsored by Natural Balance Pet Foods. On that float was Army Sergeant 1st Class Eric Pazz. As part of a pet food promotion he was back unexpectedly from Afghanistan. His wife Miriam and son Eric Jr. saw him when the float paused, and he walked over to where they were standing. The family was joyfully reunited. They then rode the float through the duration of the parade.
I was happy for them, yet I also felt bad for them. They were united, and then they had to sit on a parade float in the midst of noise for hours in the public eye.
So I shut off the parade coverage, giving them a minuscule bit more privacy.
